Holistic Nutrition: From the Inside Out

In today's fast-paced world filled with instant gratification and quick fixes, it's easy to neglect the profound impact our food choices have on our overall well-being.

What is Holistic Nutrition?

Rather than viewing food as mere sustenance, holistic nutrition considers the interconnectedness of body, mind, and spirit. By addressing the root causes of health issues and promoting balance within the body, holistic nutrition fosters a comprehensive approach to well-being.

Healing from Within

The essence of holistic nutrition lies in its ability to heal from within. Our relationship with food is formed early on, and it means so much more than the actual food we put in our mouths. Patterns and cycles between our behaviour and emotion often exist, with some many things feeding into that.

Does any of this sound familiar?

Honestly...

If you've ever:

  • dieted

  • tried to lose weight

  • labeled food as good or bad

  • feel like food is a treat, to be earned or made up for.

  • experienced/brought up as a 'girl/woman'

  • there's a food you just feel out of control around or can't trust yourself with

  • certain emotions make you want to dive head first into food e.g. stress, boredom, lack of joy, exhaustion

Then I'd suggest starting inside out.

Parts of You

The good news is: our minds are all made of parts, and all parts are good. They are ALL trying to help (even if some of their outcomes feel unhelpful, or even harmful).

Our managers:

  • control and monitor what we eat

  • plan ahead

  • think/obsess about food

  • seek out education and information about nutrition

  • use a lot of 'should' language

Our firefighters:

  • are probably behind that out-of-control, couldn't stop if I wanted to, don't even realise I'm not it until afterwards feelings

  • are often behind 'binge' behaviour

  • jump in to help us have fun, 'freedom'

Our exiles:

  • are often our feelings of not good enough, disgust, shame, pain, I'm bad or there's something wrong with me

All of our parts can be helped through the process of IFS!

Because - you are not your parts. Each part is only that: part of you, not all of you.

Which means your relationship to food can feel like you have:

  • joy

  • peace

  • freedom

  • simplicity

  • whole health

  • choice

This can then be the platform and foundation for ANY and ALL of our goals onwards.

And who doesn't want more of that?
